EnergyVision and SNCB reach first milestone in rollout of public EV charging infrastructure across 420 railway station car parks
GHENT – Just over six months after the start of the project, more than 500 electric vehicle charging points are already operational at the car parks of over 100 railway stations across Belgium. Belgian railway operator SNCB and integrated energy company EnergyVision today officially commissioned 24 charging points at Herentals railway station. The opening marks an important milestone in one of Belgium's largest EV charging infrastructure projects. Travellers can now charge their electric vehicles at the car parks of more than 100 railway stations. By 2027, all 420 stations with parking facilities will offer EV charging, representing approximately 5,000 charging points nationwide.
In October 2025, EnergyVision, in partnership with SNCB, launched the installation of EV charging stations at Belgian railway stations. Just over six months later, the project has reached its first major milestone: more than 100 stations are now equipped with charging infrastructure, providing over 500 operational charging points. EnergyVision and SNCB remain on schedule to equip all 420 railway stations with parking facilities by 2027.
The rollout will accelerate over the coming months, with stations equipped with high-voltage substations next in line. These locations will receive significantly larger charging hubs, with multiple charging points installed at each site.

Passengers can charge their electric vehicles at EnergyVision charging stations located on SNCB car parks at an attractive rate using 100% renewable electricity: a €2 connection fee plus €0.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). To prevent charging spaces from being occupied for extended periods after charging has finished, a rotation fee of €1 per hour automatically applies once a vehicle has remained connected for more than 18 hours.
Following the regions, now every province
Charging stations have already been installed at railway stations across Flanders, Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region. The next phase will expand the network to every Belgian province. If the project continues according to plan, this large-scale rollout will be substantially completed by autumn 2026. By 2027, all 420 railway stations with parking facilities will be equipped with EV charging infrastructure, providing around 5,000 charging points in total.
